This Weekend’s Digital Deals Include U2’s Joshua Tree and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

The votes are in, and the Amazon Digital Deals are set for the weekend.

In movies, this weekend’s $1.99 Instant Video rental is Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. This remake of the classic spy thriller stars Gary Oldman and is based on John LeCarre’s novel of the same name. While its Amazon reviews have been mixed, it has an 83% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The $5 MP3 album for the weekend is U2’s celebrated and award-winning The Joshua Tree. This album appears on virtually every “essential albums” list published since its release, and is generally considered to be the album that turned U2 from a successful, niche alternative rock band into the musical superstars they are today. It carries an average review rating of 4.5/5 stars across over 600 reviews.

Sugar Rush is the winning Kindle book, available for $1.99 this weekend. This comic romance is rated an average of 4.5/5 stars across 12 customer reviews, so if rom-coms are your thing, this should be right up your alley.

Finally, Sengoku is the winning videogame download, priced at $4.99 this weekend. This Age of Empires -style deep strategy game, set in medieval Japan, is rated an average of 4/5 stars on Amazon, Gameshark gives it a grade of B+, and Strategy Informer editors give it a rating of 8/10. Add to this the fact that it normally sells for $29.99, and it’s definitely worth a look for lovers of empire-building games.
