Get $20 Off A Kindle Fire HD Now Thru Mother’s Day

Amazon’s offering a rare opportunity to get a Kindle Fire HD 7″ at a discount of $20 off: just order a Kindle Fire HD 7″ and enter coupon code “FIRE4MOM” at checkout to get the discount.

But remember, this offer only lasts until 5/12/13, so if you’re in the market for a Fire HD, don’t delay!

Kindle Fire HD 7″ (4/5 stars, before discount currently priced at $199 for 16GB with special offers, $214 for 16GB without special offers, $229 for 32GB with special offers, $244 for 32GB without special offers)

What Are “Special Offers”?

“Special Offers” refers to ads that display on your Kindle Fire’s screen when it’s locked. For example, when you first turn it on, if you have a “with special offers” model you will see an ad on the startup screen: that’s the screen you have to swipe across to unlock your Fire. You would also see an ad on your Fire screen when you manually lock your Fire but leave the display on. Accepting advertising is partly how Amazon was able to roll out the Fire HD at such a low price point.

Personally, I don’t find the ads at all obtrusive. To me, they’re like magazine ads: if the item shown is something I’m interested in, I read the ad; if not, I don’t. If you really dislike them you can either buy a “without special offers” model, or go into your “with special offers” Fire’s settings and pay a one-time $15 upgrade fee to eliminate the ads.

  1. The Kindle Fire HD 7″ is now on special allowing purchasers to save $20. Does Amazon have any type of program for shoppers who have purchased the item in the last 30 days to take advantage of this offer. Many retail outlets will recognize the sale price after someone has made a recent purchase. Just wondering. But since I am now on my 8th Kindle, any break would have been great.
    Thanks for your anticipated response.

    • No such policy has been announced by Amazon, but their customer service for Fire owners is legendary so it can’t hurt to call and ask!
