Mahjong Nagomi (4/5 stars, guidance suggested, normally priced at $4.99) is today’s Amazon Free App of the Day.
This is a traditional Mahjong game, played against three computer opponents.
It’s not the same as the more basic, tile-matching and removal versions of the game you may be used to playing, but it’s a great way to learn “real” Mahjong. This version of the game is very similar to Gin Rummy.
Mahjong Nagomi features traditional tile images in traditional layouts, and employs traditional rules. Players can switch to English display in the ‘Config’ menu.
This video will give you some idea of how Mahjong Nagomi is played, but if you get the app and have never played the traditional, 4-player game you may want to review this very helpful overview of the game and rules before attempting to play, as the app does not come with any tutorials.
