Merritt’s Review:

When Mary Lennox becomes orphaned, she sadly goes to live with her uncle in Yorkshire moors, which she quickly finds full of secrets. Then one night she hears something. She hears a crying noise coming from down one of the long corridors. Outside, she meets Dickon, a seemingly magical boy who can charm and talk to animals!

One day, she meets a friendly robin, who helps her discover the most splendid secret of all- a secret garden, that has been walled and locked, and seems to be completely forgotten for years. Can Mary bring this garden back to life, or will it always remain dead and forgotten?

Education Value: 3 out 5 – When I started this novel, I had no idea the impact it would have. This book truly warms the heart and shows you what one young girl can do. I opened this book for entertainment but closed it with a little more wisdom than I had before.

Entertainment Value: 5 out of 5 – This book had me captured from the very first chapter. This storyline and characters are easily understood. The book is fantastic and so well written! I highly suggest it as a must read!
