Markie’s Review:
“Who was Helen Keller” is a book about Helen’s life. It all started when Helen was little. One day she was taking a bath and her mom poured water on her head and she did not close her eyes. Her mom thought it was strange. Helen was starting to not feel well. Her mom took her to the doctor and the doctor said she is ill and she will not be able to see or hear. So that meant she is deaf and blind. When she was little she had a teacher that helped her with speaking and hearing. The teacher’s name was Annie. By the time she was seven she was saying dog and cat and water. One of Annie’s lessons was putting water on her hand and spelling it out with her hand. That helped her say water. Then she went to college and went to an all girl school. She loved the first semester because she loved to write and she wrote all the time. Sometimes her writing were published in magazines . She wrote a book called “The Story of my Life”. It was copied in 50 different languages.
Educational Value:
It was educational because it tells about a hero’s life who inspired people to believe in themselves.
