Micah’s Review:

This book is about a boy whose Mother and Father get divorced by a mean dark secret. The boys name is Brian Robeson. Brian was on his way to the Canadian oilfields to spend the summer with his Father. His Mother gave him a hatchet hence the name Hatchet. When he was on his way to the oilfields his pilot had a heart attack. He crashed in a small oasis in the middle of a pine forest. Soon after, he made a hut out of wooden logs. He figured out of to make a fire and survived out there for a while. When he got a survival pack out of the plane he was rescued.

Entertainment Value:

This book was very entertaining with the way he has to survive. Gary Paulsen had the right mind to make this book. I would definitely recommend it to a reader looking for survival books.

Educational Value:

This book is slightly educational because it tells a little bit about the forest.

Teacher Name:

Julie Treadwell
