The Great Courses is a series of lectures—actual, collegiate-level courses in science, the arts and humanities—written and presented by some of the most respected scholars and professionals in their fields.
If you go to the Bestsellers page on the Great Courses website, you’ll find that regular prices for these programs start at about $120 and on average, generally cost about $250 each. Right now the site is running a sale, but even the deeply discounted sale courses are running about $70 each. For example, on the Great Courses website Living the French Revolution and the Age of Napoleon is usually priced at $250 for the digital audio, but that audio course is currently on sale, 70% off, for $65.

New To Audible?
For those who are not yet using Audible, we’ve got a page all about using Audible audiobooks on the Kindle Fire right here on the site. And here’s a special offer for new Audible members:
This offer will start you on a free, 30-day trial of an Audible Gold membership plan, which gives you one credit per 30 days—the great majority of Audible audiobooks, even current bestsellers, only “cost” one member credit. If you decide to remain a member at the end of the 30 day trial period, you’ll be billed $7.95 per month for the first three months, then your monthly fee will adjust to $14.95. At the end of those three months, or at any time after the initial, 30-day trial, you can upgrade to a Platinum membership, which gives you 2 member credits each month for $23 per month (that’s just $11.50 per book).
