Even Monsters Need Haircuts (4.5/5 stars, currently priced at $2.99)

Just before midnight, on the night of a full moon, a young barber stays out past his bedtime to go to work. Although his customers are mostly regulars, they are anything but normal-after all, even monsters need haircuts.

Business is steady all night, and this barber is prepared for anything with his scissors, rotting tonic, horn polish, and stink wax. It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to help these creatures maintain their ghoulish good looks. Perfect for Halloween, this is a hilarious story about a boy who follows in his father’s footsteps . . . in his own monstrously unique way.

Bedtime For Mommy (4.5/5 stars, currently priced at $2.99)

When it’s Mommy’s bedtime, she begs her little girl — Five more minutes?

Ok, but then brush your teeth! But then Mommy wants another glass of water…another story…luckily this little girl is very patient!

A hilarious reversal of the classic bedtime routine in which a little girl puts Mommy (and then Daddy) to bed.

Chick n’ Pug (5/5 stars, currently priced at $2.99)

Chick lives for adventures. Pug lives for, well, sleep. In Chick’s eyes, however, Pug can do no wrong. In fact, he is WONDERPUG!

But with danger around every corner and a hero who’s a little low on energy, it may be up to Chick to save the day and earn the prized role of sidechick (er, sidekick . . .)

From an exceptional new talent, this is a funny, heartwarming story of misplaced hero worship as well as the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

I’m A Shark (4.5/5 stars, currently priced at $2.99)

Shark’s not afraid of anything.

The dark?

Nah.

A big mean bear?

Don’t make him laugh!

But there is one thing that even Shark fears. . . .

Can you guess what it is?

Joan of Arc (4.5/5 stars, currently priced at $1.99)

As a young girl in a small village in France, Joan prayed daily that France would be delivered from the English and Burgundian invaders who were ravishing the country. When Joan was thirteen, she had a life-changing experience. The archangel Michael appeared in a vision and told her that she would save the kingdom of France and lead the dauphin (heir to the throne) to Reims Cathedral to be crowned king. Calling herself the Maid of God, Joan set off to gather an army, win a number of crucial battles, and install the dauphin on the French throne. Although the king later deserted her when France’s enemies put her on trial for heresy and burned her at the stake, her bravery and faith inspired the French people and led them to victory. Demi has drawn Joan’s battles and triumphs with exquisite detail inspired by the stained glass, architecture, painting, and sculpture of the fifteenth century.

Rumi (4.5/5 stars, currently priced at 99 cents)

Born in Afghanistan in the thirteenth century, Rumi settled in Turkey and became a great mystical poet. From a holy man, Shamsuddin, Rumi learned to listen for the sacred sound of God within himself. When his creative spirit was awakened, he recited more than 50,000 rhymed couplets. He also wrote about the love that resides in the soul of everyone, regardless of religion or background. He founded the order of the whirling dervishes, who believed their spinning dances put them in touch with God and brought peace and love into the world. To honor the 800th anniversary of his birth, the United Nations declared 2007 The Year of Mawlana Jalaladdin Rumi.

Demi’s spectacular art, inspired by the eastern culture of the thirteenth century, was painted with Turkish and Chinese inks and gold overlays. An introductory note by Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar, Ph.D., is included.
