Amazon’s Music editors have chosen their list of the best albums of 2013 so far, and they’re all on sale for $6.99 each this week only (through 7/8/13) in MP3 format. This is a great way to discover new music and artists! The sale includes:
Just Movement – Robert DeLong (4.5/5 stars)
DeLong was the toast of this year’s SXSW Festival. His unique blend of electronica, drum and bass and thoughtful lyrics, together with his use of hacked game controllers as “instruments”, has everyone from Wired to Rolling Stone talking about him and his music.
Volume 3 – She & Him (4.5/5 stars)
Featuring vocals by New Girl star Zooey Deschanel, whose sweet, lilting vocal style many may remember from her a cappella performance of Baby It’s Cold Outside in the movie Elf.
This is folksy, country-flavored music.
Modern Vampires of the City – Vampire Weekend (4.5/5 stars)
“Vampire Weekend just keep getting better and better. Today, with two gold albums under their belt, it’s clearer than ever that Vampire Weekend are one of the past decade’s great indie-rock success stories.”
– Rolling Stone
Bankrupt! – Phoenix (4/5 stars)
Remember that irresistible ditty from the fall of 2011, Lisztomania?
That was from Phoenix’s last album, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (4.5/5 stars and currently on sale for $5.99, by the way), and this new one is just as good.
Includes the hit singles ‘Entertainment’ and ‘Trying To Be Cool’.
Heartthrob – Tegan and Sara (4.5/5 stars)
Danceable synth-pop.
“Their seventh album is a veritable bouncy castle of lush, up-to-the-minute indie synth-pop and blown-out radio choruses, less fussy and more whee than anything they’ve done. Producer Greg Kurstin (Ke$ha, Kelly Clarkson, etc.) surely deserves some thanks for the dancefloor churn. But the duo draw you as close as ever with their bittersweet silk-over-sass harmonies.”
– Rolling Stone
