Alyson’s Review

This book was about a boy named Charlie Bucket and he hears that Mr. Wonka is letting 5 children come to his factory.  Then one day Charlie finds a dollar bill in the cold icy snow.

He looks and sees a newspaper store that sells candy. He ran fast as he could until he walked in the shop and bought one chocolate bar. There was no golden ticket, but he still ate it as much as he was starving.

Then he had a few cents left and bought another chocolate bar. He opened it slowly and saw a golden shine appear. He had gotten the fifth ticket! He ran as fast as he could to his house to show his family. He first showed his grandfather. Then Charlie’s grandpa started dancing saying hip hip hooray.

The family thought grandpa should take Charlie because he used to work with Mr. Wonka. So the next day they went to the factory and they were the only ones not to disappear.

What I mean is all the different rooms that Mr.Wonka took them to, someone fell into the chocolate river, blow up like a blueberry, and put into the garbage chute by squirrels, and get changed by television. So Charlie was the only regular child at the end.

Educational Value:

This story was educational because it showed cause and effect. I say this because every time something a child would eat or do the cause was the thing they did and effect was when they disappeared.

Entertainment Value:

This story was entertaining because I liked watching greedy and mean kids change their looks of them self from Mr.Wonka’s factory. Charlie was the only kind kid that knew the right things to do.
