There’s a new Fire tablet in town: the All-New Fire HD 8 Tablet is now available for pre-order and set for release 9/21/16!
This new model comes with 50% more RAM and twice as much storage as the 2015 HD8, as well as a zippy new quad core processor and up to 12 hours of battery life on a full charge.
But that’s just the beginning: a free, over-the-air update will be released in the coming months to bring Alexa (Amazon’s digital assistant) functionality to the Fire tablet line! Amazon is not specifying which generation(s) of Fire tablets will receive this update, but it’s probably safest to assume it will only be the most recent (2015/16) models.
Now you won’t need an Amazon Echo or Amazon Tap to enjoy voice-controlled access to your music, news and weather, Wikipedia, sports scores, Audible and Kindle TTS books, Alexa skills, smart home controls, Stupid Alexa Tricks and all the other great stuff Alexa can do!
You can pre-order now and expect delivery 9/21/16. The tablet is priced at $89.99 (an interest-free, 5-installment payment plan is available) in the 16GB model with special offers, but is also available without special offers and in a 32GB model at slightly higher price points. Four color options: black, blue, magenta (more like a purple) and tangerine.
If you own an older Fire tablet and have been debating whether or not to upgrade, now would be a great time to go ahead and pull the trigger on the All-New Fire HD 8 Tablet.
