Fans of the new TV series The Librarians will certainly love the full-length TV movies on which the series is based!

The Librarian: Quest For The Spear (not rated, 4.5/5 stars, closed captions available, currently priced at $1.99 to rent in SD / $2.99 in HD, $3.99 to own in SD / $4.99 in HD)

One Amazon reviewer says:
“Noah Wyle is charming as Flynn, a professional student turned reluctant hero when he finds himself named The Librarian, and is charged with guarding a number of priceless artifacts he previously thought were only the stuff of myth. Flynn’s race to recover the stolen section of the Spear of Destiny and prevent the Brotherhood of the Serpent from finding the remaining sections is Indiana-Jones-esque action and adventure at its light-hearted best.”

“Jane Curtin and Bob Newhart display their usual dry wit, with Newhart’s scene with the bad guys near the end of the movie alone worth watching the movie for. Olympia Dukakis plays Flynn’s mother, who wishes her boy would just find a good woman and settle down.”

“This is entertaining fare, a nice mix of action, adventure, brain teases and yes, a bit of romance. It isn’t a big-budget Raiders of the Lost Ark production, but for a made-for-TV movie it does a fine job, and holds up on repeat viewing.”

The Librarian: Return to King Solomon’s Mines (not rated, 4.5/5 stars, closed captions available, currently priced at $1.99 to rent in SD / $2.99 in HD, $3.99 to own in SD / $4.99 in HD)

After retrieving the Crystal Skull in Utah, Flynn Carsen receives a map in the mail with the secret location of King Solomon’s Mines. When the scroll is stolen, Judson explains the power of the Key of Solomon’s book and assigns Flynn to retrieve the map.

The map is useless without the legend piece to decipher it, which is located in Volubilis near the Roman ruins in Morocco. Flynn heads to Casablanca to the ruins where he is chased by a group of mercenaries leaded by General Samir.

They too want to find the location of King Solomon’s mines. Flynn teams-up with Professor Emily Davenport working in the dig and they escape from General Samir and his men.

While traveling to Gedi, they save the local Jomo from death and the trio faces a dangerous journey through the wild Africa.
