Here’s the set-up:
Lilly Corn doesn’t have time to believe in old penny-behind-the-ear tricks. She’s been bamboozled by a man too many times. She has a full-time job, her aging father, a rambunctious son, a tiresome ex and Sally’s Pick-Ur-Own blueberry farm to upkeep. When Hudson McGee shows up, after her father put up a help wanted sign, looking for a place to camp-out, she balks, ready to kick him off her land. She’s not about to put up with another summer of a hired man’s shenanigans. But Hudson hasn’t come to Georgia by accident and he quickly learns he will need Lilly’s help, if he is to accomplish his goals in Dahlonega. In order to help Hudson, Lilly has to learn to believe in magic, trust in luck, and discover the good in her heritage in the middle of the messy parts of her life! Is she willing to let Hudson McGee change her lack of belief in things she cannot see? Can she trust in Mother Earth and herself?
One Reviewer Notes
“Just finished reading the story. Loved the characters. Lilly will be okay as long as Jeff, the deputy finds Rusty. Since Rusty knows too much about Jeff, the deputy should kill him [in self-defense]. Hudson needs to visit long enough to find some of Yoyo’s gold. Ms. Cherry comes up with really amazing story lines to keep you reading.” — Bev Evans
