Hastia’s Review:

Caroline, her father, her cousin Lydia, and Oliver were on a ship in the Atlantic Ocean sailing. Caroline’s father was teaching them how to sail. Then they saw another ship there with an England flag on it. It looked like they were coming towards them, when the English saw the American flag they captured Caroline’s father and Oliver. They let Caroline and Lydia go home. The English were taking her father and Oliver to be a prisoner and then later help make boats with bombs for the war. Caroline and Lydia got home and told their mom everything. Caroline was very sad she waited for her father to come home every day, but still he didn’t return.

Entertainment Value:

This book was entertaining to me because I learned a lot from it and it was exciting to wonder if the dad would come home or not. That’s just me, I like mystery books. The second reason I liked this book is because it’s a American Girl book and I always thought those books were entertaining.

Educational Value:

This story is educational because it took place a long time ago even though it’s fiction it still has information about a long time ago. Back in the days the English would capture the Americans to help them build or make things for the war. So that’s happens in the story.
