Here’s the set-up:
In America, the ‘Wild West’ is a thing of the past, but in the former Soviet nations of Eastern Europe, the lawless ‘Wild East’ is still a part of daily life. For the regular citizens of Ukraine, foreign expatriates, business executives and the criminals who control the government and police as well as the conventional underworld, the ‘Wild East’ is merely home. In ‘Widows Dance’, American essayist and longtime Kiev resident Scott H. Lewis offers an anthology of short tales reflecting aspects of life in today’s Ukraine in gritty, suspenseful and often humorous detail.
