Nick Park’s Aardman Animation Studios may be best known for its Wallace and Gromit series, its feature films like Chicken Run and The Pirates! Band of Misfits, but the studio also produced the hilarious claymation series, Creature Comforts, which ran on the BBC in the United Kingdom but was never given an American network release.
In the series, producers conducted ‘man on the street’ -type interviews and then put the answers they were given into the mouths of claymation creatures, ranging from zoo animals to pets, birds to insects, even clams and aliens! This is one of those rare programs that will have the adults laughing just as hard as the kids.
Imagine parrots trying to master tongue-twisters, dogs talking about personal grooming, various pets talking about going to the vet, or vultures holding forth on fine cuisine. It’s a riot!
While the series doesn’t yet have any reviews on Amazon, on Rotten Tomatoes it has a 92% “Fresh” rating.
Creature Comforts: purchase the Instant Videos for $1.99 per episode, or $10.99 for the entire, 7-episode season.
