Today, Technology Bloom reports:
Over the last couple of weeks we got to learn quite a bit about Amazon’s plans to launch the Kindle Fire 2 tablet and even a branded smartphone that will come in 4 and 5-inch models. The Kindle Fire 2 was already going to arrive in three 7-inch models with various attributes and one 8.9-inch model that are going to ship with 4G LTE support. Now, we hear from the New York Times that Amazon is also planning a 10-inch model of the Kindle Fire 2 tablet in order to take on the iPad directly.
Also today, iTech Post is saying:
According to rumors, the second-generation Kindle Fire may sport a 7-inch display and an even lower price tag than Google’s Nexus tablet. One report also indicated that the Kindle Fire 2 may boast an HD display with improved RAM and better processor, perhaps quad-core. It may also be lighter and thinner than its predecessor, and feature a 1280 x 800 HD display, just like the Nexus 7. Moreover, the Kindle Fire 2 will reportedly offer a richer Android experience, as well as Amazon customizations based on its digital stores.

Meanwhile, Apple may heat up competition even further. The Cupertino, California-based tech giant is expected to launch a smaller version of its market-leading iPad – the iPad Mini, meeting the needs of users who prefer smaller, lighter and more portable tablets.
Yesterday, Mobile & Apps reported:
As far as the release date is concerned, folks at CNET note that the Wi-Fi only versions of Kindle Fire tablet will release in August, while the 4G LTE variant is due to debut in September. The 8.9-inch version, which isn’t much likely to debut, is releasing in Q4, according to the tech site.
Tablet market leader Apple is also anticipated to make a foray in the 7-inch tablet market this fall. The iPad Mini, or whatever the name will be, is likely to cost around $300. In this respect, Amazon needs to launch its new tablet before Apple does that.
Amazon still isn’t making any announcements of its own, but we’ll let you know as soon as they do.
