Superhero Movies On Sale, For Comic-Con Weekend

This is the weekend when geeks, nerds, artists, authors, filmmakers and fanboys (and gurls!) from all walks of life descend on San Diego for Comic-Con, the huge convention for all things sci-fi, fantasy, role-playing, superhero and graphic novel. You may not be able to attend in person, but you can be there in spirit with these sale-priced, superhero Amazon Instant Videos.

First up, Spiderman. This franchise’s reboot is now in theaters, but the three films starring Tobey Maguire in the spandex-suited starring role are all on sale in the Amazon Instant Video store, priced at just $6.99 each to purchase!

Spider-Man (PG-13, avg review rating 4/5 stars across 1,190 reviews) – The web-spinning superhero has a mission to save New York from his nemesis, the Green Goblin, and to win the heart of Mary Jane, the girl next door.

Spider-Man 2 (PG-13, avg review rating 4/5 stars across 824 reviews) – Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) gives up his crime-fighting identity of Spider-Man in a desperate attempt to return to ordinary life and keep the love of MJ (Kirsten Dunst). But a ruthless, terrifying new villain, the multi-tentacled Doc Ock, forces Peter to swing back into action to save everything he holds dear.

Spider-Man 3 – (PG-13, avg review rating 3.75/5 stars across 521 reviews) – New York City is in the throes of Spider-mania, and Peter Parker finally has the girl of his dreams. But just when it seems like things can’t get any better, Spider-Man must fight the most terrifying trio of villains he’s ever encountered: the deadly Sandman, the New Goblin, and Venom—plus the enemy he discovers within himself.

The caped crusader is also in on this Instant Video sale, with rental discounts on both of Christopher Nolan’s dark, gritty re-interpretations of the Batman mythos.

The Dark Knight (PG-13, avg review rating 4/5 across 1,560 reviews) – The Dark Knight reunites Christian Bale with director Christopher Nolan and takes Batman across the world in his quest to fight a growing criminal threat known as The Joker. $1.99 to rent, $9.99 to buy.

Batman Begins (PG-13, avg review rating 4.75/5 stars across 1,419 reviews) – Batman Begins explores the origins of the Batman legend and the Dark Knight’s emergence as a force for good in Gotham. $1.99 to rent, $9.99 to buy.

Of course, Disney-Pixar’s The Incredibles (PG, avg review rating 4.75/5 stars across 222 reviews) is part of the sale too, priced at just $1.99 to rent.

Finally, there’s the darkly comic Kick-Ass, a thoroughly modern and very edgy look at what happens when one teen decides he’s had it with the petty crime and casual indifference in his community, and decides to don a mask of his own to fight crime.

His first effort at taking on the bad guys lands him in the hospital. When he emerges, the combination of nerve damage and titanium pins and plates throughout his body give him superhuman pain tolerance, strength and resilience in a fight. But when he finds himself partnering with other “masks” who are far more experienced and skilled than himself to take on the Mob, he soon realizes that being a real-life superhero isn’t at all like comic books have led him to believe.

Kick-Ass is rated R, has an average review rating of 4.75/5 stars, and is currently priced at $1.99 to rent and $9.99 to buy.
