Kids on Fire: 25 Kindle Kids’ Books For $1 Each For June, 2014

This month’s list of 25 Kindle Kids’ Books for $1 Each has some terrific finds!

Emma Dilemma, The Nanny, And The Best Horse Ever (4.5/5 stars, chapter book, grade 3 and up)

Emma has always loved animals—her two ferrets, the family’s friendly poodle, and her sister’s fluffy cat. But now Emma is in love in a way she has never been before—with a big, beautiful bay horse named Rooney. Emma rides him at a nearby stable and thinks of him as her own horse until she finds out he’s for sale. Emma will die if somebody buys him! Emma has another dilemma, too. Her best friend is moving away, and even Annie, the best nanny in the whole world, can’t help. Emma tries to solve both dilemmas, with some humorous mishaps, and finds out that family, friendship, and finding a place where you belong are what are really important.

Sweet Farts #1 (4.5/5 stars, chapter book, grade 4 and up)

Someone has been farting up a storm at school and everyone thinks Keith Emerson is to blame. Unfortunately for Keith, it has earned him the nickname “S.B.D.” (silent but deadly). To make matters worse, Keith’s dad is a self proclaimed “Fart Machine” who really stinks it up at home.

With the science fair quickly approaching, Keith decides he has had enough. He comes up with a science fair project idea to turn the foul smell of human gas into something sweet smelling. The idea lands him in the principal’s office, and in big trouble with his mom. With the help of his little sister Emma, his dad, his crazy grandma, and Benjamin Franklin (great American scientist), Keith will attempt to make the greatest scientific discovery of all time, the cure for the common fart.

Note that books #2 and #3 in the Sweet Farts series are also included in the sale!

The Emperor’s Cool Clothes (4.5/5 stars, picture book)

The emperor can never find the perfect outfit until he meets the Rogue brothers, who can make clothes so special that only the coolest people are able to see them. But what happens when no one in the emperor’s court can see the clothes-and the emperor can’t either? Is no one cool enough or perhaps…there are no clothes to see?

This funny, clever adaptation of the classic Hans Christian Anderson tale is captured by Lee Harper in watercolor and pencil. There is an author’s note about the tale’s origin and Lee’s choice to create an imaginary kingdom where emperor penguins, walruses, albatross, seals, and polar bears all live-and shop-together.

Grimericks (4.5/5 stars, poetry, grade 1 and up)

A witty collection of 20 limericks about things spooky, creepy, and crawly!

There’s a ghost of a grizzly bear, a chess-playing ghoul, and a “witchhiking” witch all grimly illustrated by Gris Grimly.

This book is a must-have for fans of Gris Grimly, Halloween or kid-friendly things that go bump in the night!
