Here’s the set-up:

At Uncle Phil’s funeral, James Feckidee notices a curious old photograph. In it, Uncle Phil looks a good forty years younger, but the man next to him in the picture, who pumped James’s gas that evening, looks the same age as he did earlier today.

Add to that the stranger’s odd interest in James’s young son, Austin, and things couldn’t get any more alarming. Or could they? Only if a monster staked out James’s house…

Turns out this is all working toward something. But James never would have guessed what it was on the night of Uncle Phil’s funeral.
